A YELLOW PATH

During Women SS2012 Fashion week in Paris, Sonia Rykiel welcomed her guests into a location strongly dominated by a thick yellow lined catwalk, reminding me of the "Yellow Brick Road" from The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

Yellow is already everywhere to be honest, despite it has always been one of those "difficult" colors that only a few brave and fierce ones could proudly and effortlessly wear.

As you should understood I really love primary colors and, even more, street signs//signs in general because they are an incredible graphic communication code and for their contemporaneity and function into cities esthetic. Let's also think, for example, on how yellow appears inside our metropolis: architecture, lights, advs....

I am so curious about how our context reflects itself onto how we appear, how we communicate ourselves....how we choose to dress.

Let's say Versace is in fashion this season. This Year. Never stopped to be so, if we have a comprehensive look at fashion - to be really honest.

This post has been inspired at least 5 weeks ago, while watching the beautiful SS2012 collection by Fausto Puglisi photographed by Oskar Cecere.

What really interested me and I consider a huge inspiration source are - above all:

- color palette

- weight and substance of fabrics

- embroideries (that I love)

Searching the web to refresh my memories of the Nineties Decade in Versace's fashion gave me a genuine pleasure, brought me back to the beginnings of my interest in fashion but also enlightened me once again about Gianni's legend and incredible talent, creativeness and weight on style which will never be extinguished.

Trying to remain in this first parallel, between Versace and Puglisi's latest collection, I've also found a beautiful and updated use of clean silhouettes and mixed contrasting or complementary colors.

I really like and support Puglisi's work - as most of Fashion System does - since he looks to me as one of the most talented clothing "craftsmen" among the young italians. He shows to be a designer with a strong cultural background and a deep knowledge of our fashion roots, which is something that I always appreciate. Especially when it becomes the consistent starting point for a growth and development of new ideas, contemporary interpretations and an attitude to read with a fresh look some crucial moments of italian "grandeur" and talent. His Spring Summer Collection is a joy for the eyes, so fragrant and rich but never out of balance. Perfectly proportioned constructions, multicolored pleated panels, a lot of graphical effects created mixing flashy hues and precious garments full of movement, giving a dynamic boost to the juicy parade. Telling us a story that never looses its grip, like a perfect tailored "short", using a cinematographic term.

Going further on this "Versace's influence" topic, I will avoid mentioning the over-covered collaboration between H&M and Versace (which is going to be a one of a kind fashion hysteria starring all the maison's key themes and most celebrated collections).
I will talk, instead, about a specific Season designed by Gianni which is popping up everywhere this Fall, in term of trends.
I am focusing on the awesome and unforgotten "Fall Winter Bondage Collection" dated 1992.

Exactly ten year after, this winter, bondage/BDSM accessories can be found all over, revised and interpreted as the coolest of fashion accessories and "garments".
And, in particular, what I have in mind is something specific. And it goes under the name of "HARNESS".

The New York Times spotted the trend back in June 2011 starring Zana Bayne (blogger and designer) and her creations viewed on Lady Gaga's dancers, Chloe Sevigny shot by Thierry Richardson, Katy Perry and more celebs. Although this accessory has been talked about earlier this year and although it's been an often worn "object", both in show-business and in high fashion/vogueish/contempo-rotic shootings, I am convinced that it will have a wider audience. I am the first big fan (and I won't ever move my vintage Alessandro Dell'Acqua elastic one in a fav nude color...bless it for having saved soooo many looks): I am totally into such a versatile, meaningful, decorative armor. Especially because it can be styled on almost everything and designers are coming out with so many colorful versions (also tender, sorbet shades) and very intricately threaded wonders, looking like leather contemporary jewelry.

At the moment I have got a favourite designer (who I also heart for a variety of accessories he produces such as leather masks, belts, bags, hats...): Fleet Ilya. Apart from the fact that I am a huge supporter of the brand, I consider it particularly interesting for the way the designer maturated his experience and for bringing the "original" accessory to a brand new dimension and several applications.
Let's start from the fact that Ilya's father is a sculptor and he totally gave him a "plastic" way and an incredible ability to mould leather. With such a heritage he moved to a key training period under the guide of a master craftman and saddler. Later He started a collection with the creative collaboration of Resha Shama, a Central St. Martin's graduate who is the other 50% of the Fleet Ilya collections.

The duo's SS 2012 collection is a pure trip into the art of deluxe fashion saddlery pushed beyond its "limits".

Gardening is one of my numberless passions. But it is in the hall of fame of my favorite things. Maybe because it reminds me of my childhood and me and my father spending our sundays together with our hands into the soil. He was a real "Green thumb" and I got this from him: one of my dreams is a city terrace or garden where I could experience this joy again.

In the meantime, since I do not own nor a garden or a balcony, I enjoy visiting public gardens, Gardening/Flower oriented Fairs and events and being totally in love with peonias and antique roses.

As already introduced in the previous post, I've been to "Orticolario" a weekend ago and lost myself in the beauty of the location and variety of green species.

Today I am collecting here the best of flower prints/shapes/garments I saw among SS2012 WFS. Food for my soul.

Going to farmers markets makes me feel like a child: I always get over-stimulated by shapes, colors and scent of fresh fruits and veggies.

This is the same reason why my eyes where supper excited by Dolce&Gabbana's and Moschino Cheap&Chic tasty prints.

50ies inspired shapes in a mediterranean southern italian summer style @ Dolce Gabbana sending out classy divas dressed up for a market galore. Peppers, Aubergines, Tomatoes and Lemons all over. I've loved the mix with coloured lace adding a 3D sofisticated effect.

I have been watching all of the WFS for SS2012 as the most of you. I got obsessed by green, which is one of my favourite colors ever since ever. And saw green over and over in so many collections as the days passed by. Mint green just became my obsession: I've found myself looking for any spot of the proper shade in every detail. And realized just a couple days ago that this obsession has begun one year or so ago: the background color of my company website, one beloved sleeping t-shirt, a bracelet that i got in London...

Mint // Water green is dreamy, fresh, sweet and tasty. I want to collect and show you what I mostly found inspiring.

Feelings and imagery on the same palette

My previous post was part of diffrent inspiring images, materials and colors spinning around my mind these days.
I am pretty touched by the visionary choice of colours and fabrics by favourite designers such as Peter Pilotto, Roland Mouret, Gianni Serra and Marco de Vincenzo. They just somehow connected with our earth...tuning also with the activities of volcan Ejafjalla in Iceland...

I have noticed that recently, my unconditional affection for nude/skin color has been partly enlarged to include a new palette, which starts from pale coral and goes through Terra di Siena red.

Plus, I have been captured by images of reddish bricks and walls, dunes, clouds and rocks.
Easy to understand why last week I was touched and felt in love with the jewelry lookbooks by ManiaMania first and Estelle Devé later.

The most curious thing is that both brands are based in Australia. And somehow the research and inspiration behind their latest collections have kinda connection. ManiaMania "Real life awaits us" is inspired to "The Holy mountain" by Jodorowsky. Yon can tell that just looking at the pictures. They put together Mesoamerican culture, stones that look like pieces of wild nature and rocks, the 70ies, shamanism and metaphysical.

On the other side we have Davé, who called the collection "Lunar Mare", defined as "medley of science fiction fantasy and tribal nuances", inspiring futuristic images of a rough natural scenery/elegant body armour. A glimpse of a space odyssey which collects images of the past, magic and tribal.

I love both collections.
And they reminded me of sweet Fanny Raponi, whose collection I found out almost a year ago by now and used for a shooting in the mines.... She is a real artist, and I love the way she uses vintage silver objects to create and carve these supper-poetic accessories...

In my total ignorance I discovered the Print Shop area of Urban Outfitters online shop just recently. Maybe too recently. And only through our friend OTO who is also contributing to the project with an art print. I love the idea. They can deliver your preferred subject as a diffrent sized print or as a cover for your laptop or Iphone budies..! Just love it!
While I was all excited about some delicious drawings and graphics I just fell in love with Fred Einaudi's job and went immediately to his website...

An early 80ies skinhead style flavour

Me and Valentina have been talking alot about a new "'proper" influence we are heavily feeling for us, the new us, the proper "us". But this is another story, so, going back to the subject, it all started with an inner connection I guess. And her talking about a sauge aviator bomber obsession she got from a recent "LEON" movie night.
And then a lot of inspiration came together...I got back to the movie "This is England" by Shane Meadows.

I saw it almost one year ago and I have loved it very much. And loved the style. Thanx to dan to feel that subculture style so much, I think he's really sensitive towards subculture styles. but this is another story again so...back to the point.
Dan just got a couple crucial items:
- a green jacket from the 80ies, in agreen patterned fabric, with raglan padded shoulders, that I see as a retro but contemporary version of that Ma-1 aviator;
- a pair of Dr Martens by Raf Simmons in Oxblood with buckles.
Mixing everything with his partial side shaved hair, thick Persol sunglasses, vintage striped Lonsdale Tee and tight cropped stone washed grey jeans ended up to be a great interpretation of that look.

Now I just crave for a perfect female version of it. That will obviously end up being much more of a mix of styles, but I also love the original!

All these images I found added to some favourite items I love right now just gave me a variation on the theme,in term of style. And this is what I put together (still thinking that the Burberry Prorsum boot would have been the perfect piece...!!):

It seems to be a very common thing for a bunch of superstar bloggers to interrupt a chronological posting to put on something new... I was trying to resist the temptation of doing the same, even though I have a huge quantity of pics and posts I have to publish and are miserably stucked on my hard disk.

Let's not mention the fact that Garance was looking ab-fab today ...And I must have sounded awfully stupid to her giggling "hi, how are you? You look soooooo beautiful today!!!!" Aniway, I am publishing this little strip made of 3 cause:

My hotel had a very strange dark atmosphere...some kind of Dracula's residence in NY. And I loved it, even if I could hardly distinguish the day from the night! Here is a corner that i loved in my room. And a bottle of water. That killing heat kept making me thirsty all of the time...

Fortunately on my first day I had time to visit my lovely friend living there and her little tiny baby cuty-pie. I have loved the view from her kitchen....

Before I start to be excited and overwelming with the words "love/Adore/like" referred to the designer and his collection just be aware that I have a terrible crush on them...
So, let's talk.
Hmm... no
Let's post a few images.
And maybe I will be blessed with some kind of neutral opinion. Maybe.Dunno.

Intro: a smooth trip through colors. Blacks, greys, white and clever touches of flashy oranges and liquid silver. And an incredible but very well mixed sequence of different lengths, proportions, volumes, asimmetries.

My pics came out wrong nd blury but I like some of them very much. Just angry for the brown haired presence stucked in the middle of the frame...

And now some official exhaustive pics. enjoy them. I am sure you will LOVE (auch I said that) it as I do.
To be serious, I think he really is one to watch at. He is increasing and getting more mature each season. And the pieces are amazingly well cutand well done.

I Am back to you with the images I promised. I had the pleasure to find out that almosthalf of my pics were horrible and trribly blury so I saved some of them, givingsomehow a feeling of the fabrics and I am adding professional catwalks pics to illustrate the looks I mostly loved.

I really liked the lamé dress, reminds me of my ecleptic piece I made time ago and always wear as a collar or turbant. The shape here is very simple yet fluid and the shiny fabric just adds movement an image of night calm sea water. Or sparkling asphalt

As a tree surface, you can almost feel the touch. and the irregular lines and pattern. Perfect.

Here is one of my favourite of all the collaction. A sublime expression of the collection mood and idea. ethereal yet defined. Maybe I love it 'cause I have been obsessed by gellyfishes. Whatever it is, this piece made me hold my breath a little bit.

DAY I
This is officially day One. Hot room. Swollen eyes. Had to' drin k several grapefrut juice glasses to get my brain back to a clear view ... Arrgh !!
Run to the first appointment, Sara Lanzi's show. ln my orange beloved boots. Raining. Had to add some vitanimic color to' a long day ahead...

Rome is awesome. And I like the relaxed mood of the show/events schedule. So, back to' my schedule, back to Sara Lanzi.

A sparkling catwalk welcomed an ethereal line up of models. The show was titled "fragile", evanescent figures, delicate Women with melting red lipstick and dark eye makeup. Love. 15 evening outfits resembling fairies Look, soft lightless fabrics + lurex, knitted pieces. Soft color s from powdery to' White, black and transparences. An amazing nylon knitted transparent dress with black piping i am dieing for.

Second appointment: check the work in progress at stunning venue of Tempio di Adriano.

On Tim Walker and the Coolest Redhead ever

Last Saturday I was at the opening of Tim Walker's Show @ Galleria Carla Sozzani - Corso Como10.
I could not stop but take a picture of every and each work. Amazing and emotional, I think the way Tim builts his concepts, sets and images is sublime. That incredible romantic touch, the delicate caress of his look on the object, those vibrant colors...

One of the pics I loved most was a portrait of a beautiful english rose: Mme Vivienne Westwood.
And this image made me think about a very sweet lovely pic of the Lady that Dan took during fashion week. I put them both in a frame. Dreaming of hanging them both beside on a wall.

My lovely Tamu of alltheprettybirds published a post I fell in love with just a few days ago. Titled "Red satin Breton stripes", starring a lovely skirt+a timeless shirt+Katie Grand.
I always loved breton-stripe shirts cause thay make me think about a casual/simple but refined/clean/spring/sea reminding piece that can make me feel perfect in a million occasions.
And then I thought about more stripes, and navy inspiration...and bounding them together.
Result in my obsessed mind:

Alienina knitted cord necklaces (1) + Givenchy striped jacket (oh my God I can't hide it makes me sweat) (2) + a Wonder Stripe Tshirt by Acne (3).

As a"new"beginning for my activity here I am putting on this image referring to a very interesting kermesse dedicated to Haute Couture, young talents, bloggers and Independent Fashion Magazines. I am talking about "Altaroma" and "Fashion on Paper", officially opening in Rome next Saurday, January 30th, until Tuesday, February 2nd.

I am very very glad to go there for the double purpose to represent my blog and represent Rossia Magazine.

Topiary is in the air, on my mind...
I am very interested in ardening which is one of my passions.
And I really like Tim Burton's.
So, what do Victor & Rolf, Topiary and Tim Burton have in common in the intricate paths of my fashion perverted mind?
Well, just a stream of mixed consciousness and ideas I guess.
Talking about Alice in Wonderland, most of you have probably seen the first images available...

And now let's go back to the couple of genious that I think are going back to their unique and visionary approach. Let's talk about tulle. I cannot think about a more "common" yet sculptorial, color rich, light yet materic, full, layer"able", simple but sophisticated and much more fabric.

The more I look at this show the more I find it interesting and, as always, full of details and concepts to be investigated and thought about. May sound obvious or cliché but to me it is once again so true. I would particularly share my feelings and suggestions that the prints of crowded (and kinda artificial) beaches gave me.
It made me think about Massimo Vitali's photography. Just in the midway between a sociological and estetic point of view.

I love those prints because allow me going behind the beauty of fabric, colors and shapes. It is just as if you are projected to a more complex concept of these clothings beauty. They invite you to watch at people's stories happening under the surface of a nice composition. You can just loose yourself in catching more and more details of the images. Characters, lifes.

And I also find a reason to reflect on the concept of getaways, on our contemporary perception of holiday, on its mass-oriented nature.

Every season we can't stop taking pictures of her.

Kate is the quintessence of elegance I'd say, which is something that she deeply owns in the inside, as a person.
I have never seen someone who has such a personal, cohesive, coherent, effortless Style. And she is so gentle and spontaneous in the approach that makes her even more lovely.
Her look is not properly "androginous" in an old style sense, she is so contemporary, "clean", immediate and always balanced. And her presence, her presence! She blows my mind with her personal taste in picking and combining the greatest accessories! I have usually seen her walking on marvellous heels but I have to say that I loved loved loved Kate in Sonia Rykiel's black crystal encrusted creepers...pure 2009 rock'n'roll!!!!!!!

This orange dress has been one of my favourite from the moment I saw it one year ago. I particularly loved the way it came out on the runaway, with its peculiar egg shape. But I have to admit that the way Anna Dello Russo styled and worn it 6 months ago was very interesting. Totally re-interpreted shape, with a high waisted black belt squeezing it around her silhouette with nude coloured shoes and golden accessories which added softness and a powerful, strong feminine touch. As I was observing a few posts ago, here comes again the big influence some people and streetstyle photographers have on style.
We spotted the same dress with a similar belt around the waist:
from my personal point of view, the choice of black buckled shoe-boots and bag pushed all the tenderness away, also considering the strength of this vitaminic orange.
But I like the braveness of wearing it!

I have been watching and waving at Wang for a little while now and my interest in him is not going to stop. Since the beginning he has been exploring that special, fresh, clean, effortless style essence that my imagination consider "AMERICAN" by searching and indaguing some macro&micro references around the theme of "Casual".
Latest show widely explores american football : from training to uniforms to the playground, including cheerleaders and leather balls, showing us consumed like knitted pieces, grey fleece, padded shoulders and quilted surfaces reminding protective structures.
And he added some deconstructed pieces, starting from army like jackets and
raincoats softly wrapping the body.

The collection is completed by his signature classics such as white skirts,tshirts, tight minidresses, some transparences and supper cool accessories like the animal print shoes, black zipped shoeboots, ball-like-clutches...

It is like the perfect new wardrobe, to be mixed and matched with everything all day and night long.

New York Fashion Week is already over, fashion system has alsready moved to London and will be here in Milan soon (at least I hope...since Milan has been always less interesting recently...!). This is time for me to go through a lot of images of shows and designers I love alot and start to make my own considerations on some focuses that are catching my attention.
First of all, I am glad to notice that my obsession with anatomic/patterned/armour/graphic leggings and pants has been widely explored. Once again I thank my adored Delphine Murat for being so ahead in fulfilling my fashion desires.

I have started looking on latest Spring Summer 2010 fashion shows from NYC and found out that Eva Fontanelli's beloved feathers puffy skirt and embellishments have been inspirating a bunch of designers already. Obviously we can say that ideas are in the air but once again I have to make some thoughts about the influence that StreetStyle photographers/bloggers, first of all Scott Schuman from The Sartorialist, have on fashion.

And I am also glad to see how influent and powerful personal style can still be.

Even if the web is overwelmed with the Undercover's Pitti Show/Event pics,

I loved it so much and Dan took such beautiful photos that I am posting anyway, despite it's already been a month since it happened.
The colletions is very interesting, minimal, functional, rational, inspired by the work of german indistrial designer Dieter Ram.
The after show took place up to the hill of the "Boboli wonderland" and was incredibly poetic.

Here I want to write about Gemma Slack and Maiden Art, two of the labels that are mostly taking my attention.

Mrs Slack is a very young promise of british fashion landscape.
She has got a very strong arty approach and often translate sculpture and painting into apparel.
I have seen her creations on the celebrated "Not just a label" young talent incubator/eshop and I totally fell looking at her "spine dress" that sent me directly to her homepage...

she has already interned at Gareth Pugh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I selected the look I ostly appreciate,
featuring black&white, shouldel structures, digital smoke prints, chain corsets and leather.

The second brand I was mentioning is Maiden Art.
This label is fresh, italian and conceptual: hurraaaaay!!!
Just to proudly show that Italy has got young energy with something strong to say.
Their production includes apparel, accessories and jewelry for women and men.
This FW 2009/2010 collection is called "The Black Vinyls", all declined and inspired by black and white with a lot of metal and leather. That's why I am pairing these two collection that give me a similar deep vibe.

Last night IED dedicated a fashion show featuring an abstract of its best students' collections.

I honestly have to say that I didn't expected such an accurate manifacture of the pieces and that was a truly nice surprise.
I obviously identified a few favourites designers/ideas but I would have expected some little more experimentation.
Chapeau, anyway, since some of them seem to have learned well all those (boring) lessons about the market and the commercial side of creativeness.
I am going to post a few picture I took but will add more as soon as I get some.
